Visual And Performing Arts Converge At ‘Downtown At Sundown’

Visual and performing arts converge at MCASD’s after-hours offering: Downtown at Sundown.

Part open house and part happy hour all wrapped in art and culture this is an event you want to check out!

On the third Thursday of every month, enjoy free Museum admission and exhibition tours, DJ-spun tunes, free entry at SDSU Downtown Gallery, drink specials at the adjacent Stone Brewing Company Store, and so much more.

Explore new exhibitions Yve Laris Cohen: Meeting Ground and Sadie Barnette: Dear 1968,… with complimentary tours at 5:30 and 6:45 PM in the Jacobs Building.

At 6:15 PM a conversation with Sadie Barnette and Assistant Curator Anthony Graham will take place in the Foster Gallery at 1100 Kettner Blvd. At 7:15 PM a conversation with Yve Laris Cohen and Curator Jill Dawsey will be held in the screening room at 1001 Kettner Blvd.

Stop by our galleries across the street to see work by students from Vahalla High School, Chula Vista High School, and High Tech High Chula Vista who participated in the Museum’s Extended School Partnership program.

At the SDSU Downtown Gallery, enjoy the exhibition Give-and-Take: Poster Design by Nancy Skolos and Thomas Wedell. The artists will lead a gallery tour from 5-6 PM.

Hungry for more? There are savory selections for everyone at Downtown at Sundown! Pick up gourmet vegan fare from the Original Herbivore food truck to pair with happy hour specials next door at at the Stone Brewing Company Store.

We also invite you to dine at one of our neighborhood including AAHARN and Waters Fine Foods & Catering, and enjoy re-entry to the event when you’re done!

Grab your friends and head downtown to explore all the MCASD has to offer!

See you there!
