Learn About The ‘Jewel Of San Diego’ On A Balboa Park Walking Photo & History Tour

Balboa Park is known as the Jewel of San Diego, and it’s no surprise why. The beautiful gardens and stunning architecture create the perfect setting to highlight San Diego’s beauty and history.

But have you ever wanted to know more about the park’s history and secrets? Now you can, with a walking tour from I Walk San Diego, a new business here in town.

Your tour guide

Kris from I Walk San Diego is a guide who loves taking photos in Balboa Park and telling people about its history. The story of how the Park became what it is today will enhance your experience and make you fully understand what you are seeing, and Kris knows it well.

Kris gained his experience as a volunteer with Forever Balboa Park, the busiest visitor center in San Diego. He continues to donate his time there as a tour guide and information desk attendant. He has also donated his time as a Gaslamp Quarter tour guide and docent with the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House, and a board member of the San Diego Professional Tour Guide Association.

About the tour

The tour starts on the steps of the San Diego Museum Of Art in the Plaza de Panama in the center of Balboa Park.

Everyone is welcome and fancy cameras are not needed. All photos shown here were taken with an iPhone.

This walk is suitable for all ages 3 and up. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The terrain is mostly flat pavement. Sunscreen, water, hat, and sunglasses are recommended when the weather is hot.

You can learn more and get signed up for a tour at the I Walk San Diego website.

See you there, San Diego!
