Surf Meets Symphony at Art of Elan’s Sounds & Swells
Art of Elan is bringing back its beloved Sounds & Swells series for a two-night run—and it’s set to be one of the most visually and sonically immersive performances of the season.
This special concert experience pairs breathtaking new surf cinematography with live classical music, performed by San Diego’s own Hausmann Quartet. It’s a celebration of California’s iconic culture—surf, sea, and symphony—all in one unforgettable evening.
A Cinematic Ride Through California’s Waves
Curated in collaboration with McCracken Films, Joey Taylor, and Jimmy Wilson, the film footage captures the raw beauty and pulse of California’s surf—from golden hour glassy breaks to the exhilarating power of crashing swells.
These sweeping visuals will be projected in full glory inside the Fleet’s Giant Dome Theater and the intimate setting of the Surf Museum.
Live Music That Moves With the Tide
The soundtrack to this coastal journey is performed live by the acclaimed Hausmann Quartet, featuring works from California composers like John Adams, Terry Riley, and more.
From minimalist rhythms to soaring string melodies, the music mirrors the ocean’s unpredictable energy—sometimes meditative, sometimes wild, always moving.
