Alpine’s favorite exotic animal sanctuary is getting into the Halloween spirit with the return of its Spooky Campover and Pumpkin Bash.

Back by popular demand, these fan-favorite events promise a wild, family-friendly way to kick off spooky season, all while supporting the rescued animals who call Lions Tigers & Bears home.

A Wild Night at the Sanctuary

The Spooky Campover is a one-of-a-kind camping experience where families can sleep under the stars right alongside the sanctuary’s big cats and other rescued residents.

The overnight includes campfire songs, pumpkin carving, a Halloween costume contest, and an all-ages haunted house, plus an animal trivia challenge, s’mores by the campfire, and hot cocoa to keep things cozy.

It’s the kind of overnight adventure you won’t find anywhere else in San Diego County. Falling asleep to the sounds of the sanctuary is an experience the whole family will be talking about long after the campfire dies down.

Pumpkin Time for the Big Cats

The next morning brings the Pumpkin Bash, where you can throw on a costume and head over to watch the rescued cats and bears dig into pumpkins stuffed with tasty enrichment treats the night before’s campers helped carve.

It’s a playful, only-once-a-year chance to see the animals in their element, tearing into their Halloween goodies while you cheer them on.

Space is limited and this one tends to sell out, so it’s worth reserving your spot early. Bonus points if your costume matches the fall spirit of the animals you came to see.

Gear Up for a Night Under the Stars

If you’re joining the campover, pack the essentials: a tent, sleeping bag, flashlight or lantern, camping chair, and warm clothes, along with food and beverages for dinner, snacks, and breakfast.

Community grills are available on-site, but personal barbecues or stoves aren’t permitted. Don’t forget a pumpkin or two to carve for the animals’ enrichment, and come ready to show off your best costume for the contest.

You’re also encouraged to bring an item from the sanctuary’s wishlist to help support the animals in their care.
