Rooftop Cinema Club Films & Special Events Highlights
A new and exciting series of special events are planned for the Rooftop through late April.
The special event offerings include regular Tuesday Social Hours, a Women in Music Movie Night and Silent Discos, Singles Nights, and a special first-of-its-kind Chocolat Culinary Experience.
Tuesday Social Hours
By popular demand, Rooftop Cinema Club is bringing back its Tuesday Social Hours on the Rooftop.
Starting March 19, each Tuesday for two hours before the night’s first film screening, San Diegans are welcome to come out to the Rooftop and enjoy food, cocktails, live music, lawn and table games and of course, gorgeous skyline views!
“Women in Music” Movie Night and Silent Disco
On Friday night, March 22, Rooftop Cinema Club will celebrate Women’s History Month with a “Women in Music” Movie Night and Silent Disco. It’s a perfect opportunity to groove to incredible female artists while enjoying the ultimate female empowerment musical hit: Pitch Perfect!
Kick off the night enjoying all that the rooftop has to offer, including a bar, table games, and stunning views.
After the film, head to the lounge area and dance the night away to a set of the best girl power tracks featuring everything from the most popular women in music, like Taylor Swift and Beyonce, to all-girl power groups like the Spice Girls and Blackpink.
Singles Night
The romantic classic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was released in theaters 20 years ago, and to celebrate the milestone, Rooftop Cinema Club is hosting a special Singles Night in its honor on Thursday, March 28.
Singles are invited to make their way down to the Rooftop to enjoy an extended two-hour door time to mingle with other singles while a DJ emcees the evening and breaks the ice with fun games and music. A second singles night is planned for Thursday, April 25, featuring the classic Miss Congeniality.
Easter Egg Hunt
Rooftop Cinema Club is the place to get a head start on Easter as it hosts an all-ages Easter Egg Hunt followed by a screening of the hit film Wonka on Saturday, March 30, the day before Easter.
It’s a chance to kick off the chocolate-filled holiday weekend with a special screening of the musical origin story of the fabled candy maker.
Rooftop Prom: Movie Night and Silent Disco
Kicking off prom season, Rooftop Cinema Club will host a Rooftop Prom: Movie Night and Silent Disco on Thursday, April 18, featuring the ultimate ‘90s prom movie, 10 Things I Hate About You.
Celebrating teenage nostalgia, enjoy the film and then dance the night away to a high-energy prom-inspired DJ set. ‘90s prom attire is highly encouraged!
Celebrating Selena
On Tuesday, April 16, Rooftop Cinema Club will celebrate the birthday of Selena, The Queen of Tejano Music. Shockingly, it’s been nearly 30 years since her last concert and tragic passing, yet her legacy and cultural contributions are still felt by her fans throughout the world.
The night will kick off with a special Tuesday Social Hour to honor the music and life of this incredible woman on what would’ve been the singer’s 53rd birthday.
A DJ will spin tracks by Selena and other Cumbia and Tejano musicians before a screening of Jennifer Lopez’s stunning portrayal in the eponymous 1997 biopic Selena.
This Is The End and Sausage Party
This 4/20, the Rooftop is the place to be for a blazingly good time featuring the stoner classics, This Is The End and Sausage Party. It’s a perfect excuse to enjoy stoner-themed comedy, snack on delicious munchies, and chill out in comfy seating under the stars while vibing out to a curated playlist of low-fi beats.
An Exciting New Collaboration
As part of RCC’s Food-In-Film Series, RCC will host a special immersive screening while teaming up with the local cacao café, Maya Moon, for a Culinary Screening Experience centered around the romance hit Chocolat.
Everyone in attendance will receive European-style hot chocolate and a special box of decadent, hand-crafted chocolate bites, with each bite including a quote from the film corresponding with a moment in the movie when you are to indulge.
