Rosin Box Project’s Haunting Immersive Theater Experience, “Ghost Light Masquerade”, Returns
The Rosin Box Project, San Diego’s premier contemporary ballet company, invites you to stir up something wicked and get lost among the eerie stages and dark corners as the dances of the damned are unearthed before you at the return of Ghost Light Masquerade.
The hauntingly popular annual immersive experience happening Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5 at Bread + Salt. A virtual experience follows on Friday, June 24.
Welcome to the world of theater superstitions
It is no secret that the theater world is riddled with superstitions. It is exactly these superstitions that the Ghost Light Masquerade immerses audiences in.
Before the night draws to a chilling end, you will discover what plagues the performers and theaters for yourself!
Travel through a haunted world
Ghost Light Masquerade sets a traveling stage to create an engaging journey into the world of theater superstitions. Using chilling riddles about the lore that gives the theater world its magic and mysticism, and a series of vignette dances to drive the experience as a narrative, we move along through this haunting world that both Spirits and the Living call home.
Inspired by the Ghost Light, a singular bulb that is to always be lit on an empty stage to ward off the mischievous ghosts that haunt all theaters alike, we explore some of the many theatrical rituals that performing artists remain tethered to. Even in the afterlife.
Prepare your secret password
You may enter only by way of a secret password. Once inside, you’ll follow the dancers through a series of vignettes inspired by the lore that gives the stage its mystical quality.
Each guest is given their own bespoken Ghost Light Masquerade mask to wear during the performance. It is theirs to keep (some might even contain clues and secrets!) before they embark on an individual journey of a series of short ballets set in two rounds of performances.
Bring the haunting home with a virtual performance
Bring the haunting home with a virtual performance on June 24 filmed using a 360-degree camera.
You’ll be able to move your own viewing device in any direction to create a unique adventure experiencing the scenery and the dancing all around you.
Virtual attendees also have the option of adding a Ghost Light Gift Box to their order. This includes a VR headset, at-home cocktail kit, and more ghoulish goodies!
