Get Ready for a Night of Beer and Trains at Ales N’ Rails

Craft beer and model trains are teaming up again for Ales N’ Rails, and tickets are officially on sale. This annual evening at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum packs craft beer, live entertainment, food, raffles, and the museum’s iconic train exhibits into one fun-filled night.

It all comes together in the heart of Balboa Park, and it’s the kind of mashup that sounds unlikely on paper but works perfectly in person.

Craft Beer Takes Over the Museum

This year’s lineup pours from some serious local talent, including Barley & Sword Brewing Company, Brewjeria Company, Pizza Port Brewing Co., Athletic Brewing Co., Chula Vista Brewery, and more.

Whether you’re a hop-head or just along for the trains, there’s a tasting glass with your name on it. With this many breweries in one room, it’s the perfect excuse to try something new.

Raffles, Prizes, and an Ugly Sweater Contest

Beyond the beer, the night is packed with extras worth sticking around for. Raffle prizes and experiences come courtesy of local favorites like Old Town Trolley Tours, Fleet Science Center, San Diego Air & Space Museum, The Old Globe, and City Experiences San Diego.

There’s also an Ugly Sweater contest for anyone ready to show off their holiday spirit early. Just note that raffle basket drawing entries require a separate purchase, either online or on site, so plan ahead if you’re hoping to take home one of those prizes.

What Your Ticket Gets You

A ticket to Ales N’ Rails includes access to the museum and its galleries, beer tastings, and food available on a first come, first served basis.

Presale tickets for non-members start at $40, with day-of tickets priced at $45 per person, and museum members get early access along with discounted rates.

Heads up that all sales are final and nonrefundable, and this one’s strictly 21 and up, so bring a valid ID or you’ll be turned away at the door.
