Japanese Friendship Garden Honors Ancestors At The Annual Toro Nagashi Festival

Get ready for an enchanting evening filled with Japanese culture and tradition at the Toro Nagashi Festival, a captivating event held in the serene ambiance of the Japanese Friendship Garden.

Embrace the beauty of this ancient custom, Toro Nagashi, as the community honors and remembers our departed loved ones.

Floating Lantern Tradition

A highlight of the Toro Nagashi Festival is the touching custom of floating lanterns to remember and honor those who have passed away.

As twilight sets in, the lower garden stream becomes aglow with the warm light of floating lanterns adorned with LED candles. Guests are invited to participate in this heartwarming tradition and send their wishes of peace and love to their dearly departed.

Starting at 10AM on Friday, August 11th, we will have 100 lanterns available for purchase and decoration in the Inamori Pavilion. It’s a first-come, first-served opportunity, so make sure to arrive early to secure your lantern and personalize it with your heartfelt messages.

Click here to purchase your lanterns.

Food and Sake Garden

And for those craving some liquid refreshments, head up to the upper garden Exhibit Hall, where a delightful Beer and Sake Garden awaits you!
