World Ballet Company Brings The Nutcracker to San Diego

Some holiday traditions just work, and The Nutcracker is one of them. World Ballet Company’s production returns with the kind of scale and craft that makes it worth getting dressed up and heading to the theater.

We’re talking 40 world-class dancers, over 150 hand-sewn costumes, and hand-crafted sets that create the visual magic this ballet demands.

The Story That Never Gets Old

If you somehow haven’t seen The Nutcracker, here’s what you need to know: Marie’s beloved Nutcracker comes to life on Christmas Eve and leads her through a journey filled with swirling snowflakes, mischievous mice, and the dazzling Kingdom of Sweets.

It’s the kind of story that works whether you’re six or sixty, and the production quality World Ballet Company brings elevates it beyond your typical holiday performance.

A Production Worth Seeing

What sets this apart is the attention to detail. Those 150+ sparkling costumes are hand-sewn, the sets are hand-crafted, and the dancers know what they’re doing.

The whole production runs 1 hour and 40 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission, which is long enough to feel like a real theater experience but not so long that younger audience members lose interest.

Holiday Magic Done Right

There’s something about live ballet during the holidays that feels right. Maybe it’s the combination of Tchaikovsky’s score with those elaborate sets and costumes, or maybe it’s just nice to experience something beautiful that requires you to put your phone away for a couple of hours.

Either way, World Ballet Company’s Nutcracker delivers that mix of nostalgia and genuine artistry that makes it a solid family outing.

Whether you’re introducing kids to live theater or continuing your own holiday tradition, this is the kind of production that creates actual memories instead of just filling time.

See you there!

Step into a world where toys come alive and holiday magic fills the air.
