Just two days later, prepare to witness history as 19-year-old violin sensation Guido Sant’Anna makes his San Diego debut. This Brazilian phenom became the first South American to win the prestigious Fritz Kreisler Competition, and critics can’t stop raving about his incredible maturity and depth.
The month continues with musical powerhouses Anthony McGill and Emanuel Ax teaming up on January 29 for an evening that pairs one of today’s most iconic pianists with a GRAMMY-nominated clarinet master.
History in the Making
January 19 brings Terence Blanchard’s groundbreaking Fire Shut Up In My Bones to San Diego. This isn’t just any performance—it’s a special concert suite featuring Blanchard himself, along with The E-Collective, Turtle Island Quartet, and stunning vocalists making their local debuts.
The Martha Graham Dance Company celebrates its centennial on January 25 at the Civic Theatre with a once-in-a-lifetime performance including the classic Appalachian Spring. This is American modern dance at its finest.
