Summer is almost here, and Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero has a great lineup of movies to watch while soaking up those summer vibes with friends and family!

The ultimate outdoor cinema experience is one of our favorite things to do in San Diego during the summer. If you’ve never been, the warm summer nights are the perfect opportunity. And if you’ve been before, you know it’s time to go again!

Fifteen fantastic films are lined up for Memorial Day Weekend to kick off the holidays, starting with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in the Rom-Com “500 Days of Summer,” and concluding with the Steven Spielberg blockbuster “Jurassic Park” on Memorial Day.

Pride Month

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are key pillars of Rooftop Cinema Club, and for Pride Month, which is celebrated across the nation in June, each Wednesday night throughout the month, RCC Embarcadero will celebrate inclusivity with a series of films highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community.

A portion of proceeds from all of these screenings will be donated to The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people.

The Pride Month schedule up on the Rooftop includes the “La Cage aux Folles” remake, “The Birdcage,” starring the late Robin Williams, Gene Hackman and Nathan Lane (Wed. June 1 at 7:45PM), the Elton John biopic “Rocketman” (Wed. June 8 at 8PM), the Susan Sarandon & Barry Bostwick cult-classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (Wed. June 15 at 8PM) and the original “Wizard of Oz” starring icon Judy Garland during the month of her 100th birthday (Wed. June 22 at 7PM).

Continuing with its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this Juneteenth (June 19th), Rooftop Cinema Club will celebrate Black filmmakers and actors on the federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation and end of slavery in the U.S.

Rooftop Cinema Club’s Juneteenth slate includes “The Princess and the Frog” at 2PM, which features Anika Noni Rose as Disney’s first Black princess, writer/director Gina Prince-Bythewood’s deeply romantic “Love & Basketball” at 5:15PM and writer/director Jordan Peele’s horror triumph “Get Out” at 8:45PM.
