Madison on Park

While Madison on Park, University’s Heights’ beloved neighborhood bar and eatery, is typically closed on Mondays, the restaurant is making an exception to help love birds throughout San Diego celebrate Valentine’s Day. On Monday, February 14th, the restaurant will offer a special three-course Valentine’s Day menu from 4:30PM to 10:30PM, highlighting favorites from the menu, along with special offerings. The menu includes a choice of starters, entrees, and desserts, along with an amuse bouche, and costs $69 per person. Featured menu items include starters like Tuna Tartare and Madison’s iconic Watermelon Stack, and entrees like Local Seabass and Filet Mignon, along with vegan and vegetarian options, and an assortment of desserts. In addition to the pre-fixe menu, guests have the option of adding on a wine and cocktail pairing for $25, which allows guests to mix and match two drinks that pair best with their meal. Wolfie’s

Are you longing to escape this Valentine’s day? Celebrate the day of love while being transported to the streets of Paris at Wolfie’s Carousel Bar. Chef Travis Swikard’s Mediterranean favorite, Callie, will be celebrating the holiday all weekend long beginning on Saturday, February 12th and opening doors for one night only on Monday, February 14th to make it a Valentine’s Day for the books. Chef Travis and his team have prepared a very special 5-course family style menu with highlights including the restaurant’s signature Mediterranean breads and spreads including Hummus, Baba Ghanoush and Avocado Labneh, Chilled Prawns and Burrata with confit tomato, taggiasca olives and Genovese basil, Red Wine Braised Short Rib and Brie Doppio Agnolotti with winter black truffle, mushroom and rosemary, Black Cod Tagine with cauliflower, preserved lemons and olives and Labneh Cheesecake with Meyer lemon and Chino Farm strawberries to complete the meal. The Grass Skirt

In addition to their regular dinner menu offerings, Monello and Bencotto in Little Italy will be featuring two delicious pasta recipes specially made for lovers starting Tuesday, February 8 through Valentine’s Day. The first is a decadent Black Squid Ink Stuffed Gnocchi, with shrimp and ricotta, smothered in creamy prosecco sauce. Enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars Valentine’s Day weekend on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12, at Solana Beach’s favorite butchery and eatery, Ranch 45. Farmer & The Seahorse

Chef Sam Deckman has a very special Valentine’s menu planned for the sprawling Torrey Pines restaurant, Farmer & The Seahorse. On Saturday, February 12th and Monday, February 14th from 5:30-8:30PM, the restaurant will be showcasing a 3-course menu with such highlights as: Artichoke Hearts with vinaigrette, aji verde, Reggiano and chives, Filet Mignon with scalloped cauliflower and an option to add on a Maine Lobster Tail, Creamy Mushroom Pasta with shaved black truffle and Green Acre scallions, and Scallops with cauliflower purée and crispy sunchoke chips and desserts including Chocolate Torte with caramel and Fig & White Chocolate Pot de Crème. The menu is priced at $75 per person and reservations can be made through the website here with walk-ins welcome.

Bleu Bohème

Bleu Bohème, located in Kensington at 4090 Adams Ave., will celebrate l’amour with a specialty three-course, prix fixe dinner and festive cocktail, available from 4 to 8PM exclusively on Monday, Feb. 14. Created by owner and executive chef, Ken Irvine, Bleu Bohème’s specialty menu will be priced at $85 per person. The Martini d’Amour will be offered for the celebration, made with Flor de Cana rum, Grand Mariner, Fonseca #27 port and fresh lime juice, and is priced at $15.

To start, guests may choose between wild mushroom soup with parmesan and fresh herb croustade; crab croquettes with jicama remoulade, tomato-rocket salad and saffron aioli; fresh-roasted beet salad with clementines, pickled red onions, goat cheese croquettes and rocket lettuce; house rum-cured, cold-smoked salmon tartare atop goat cheese crêpe with lemon zest, capers, chives, caviar and crème fraiche; or Brussels sprouts with butternut squash, house-smoked bacon and apple balsamic vinegar.

Entrée options include Faroe Island salmon with roasted Japanese potatoes, butternut squash, cauliflower and sorrel beurre blanc; large dry-pack sea scallops served with saffron lobster risotto, linguisa, rapini, fennel and basil pistou; petit filet mignon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, spinach, green peppercorn sauce and black truffle butter; Shiitake and oyster mushroom raviolis with ratatouille, spinach, espelette, tomato relish, herbs and white wine cream sauce; or cassoulet of Hudson Valley Muscovy duck leg confit served with cannellini beans, garlic sausage, smoked pork belly and pistou.

Dessert offerings include crème brûlée, rich vanilla custard with a crunchy sugar crust; warm brioche bread pudding with caramelized apples, raisins, white chocolate and caramel sauce; warm gingerbread topped with strawberry confiture and caramel ice cream; warm flourless chocolate cake with Kirsch Chantilly cream; or sweet crepe filled with Nutella and topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel and toasted hazelnuts.

Shake & Muddle has put together a sexy, three-course Prix-Fixe Dinner priced at $180 for two people, available Friday, February 11 – Monday, February 14 from 4PM–10PM. The specialty menu will include a sparkling wine toast to start the evening, a Heart-Shaped Beet Salad appetizer, Prime Surf & Turf featuring butter aged bone-in Rib Eye Steak, Lobster Tail, and au Gratin Potatoes as the main entrée, and chef’s creation for dessert. Pair dinner with the Double Berry Kiss Martini made with Godiva chocolate liqueur, Stoli Vanilla vodka and  Van Gogh Acai-blueberry vodka served with a chocolate chip rim and heart-shaped strawberry garnish.

Vogue Tavern

Tucked along the Chula Vista’s Third Avenue Village, Vogue Tavern will host a Valentine’s & Galentine’s Day Weekend beginning Saturday, February 12. Start the morning with brunch from 10AM–1PM and enjoy mouthwatering dishes like the Chicken & Waffles or the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast. The Raspberry White Mocha is made with housemade raspberry syrup, white chocolate mocha syrup and espresso and is topped with raspberry powder. Offering more than just craft coffee and pastries, Communal’s North Park and Oceanside locations also have large selections of fresh flowers. For Valentine’s Day, they’ll be selling gorgeous, hand-crafted bouquets with the option to add on a candle, chocolate, bottle of wine, or jewelry item to create the perfect V-Day package for a loved one. With three variations of bouquets, the Valentine’s Vintage Bouquet, Valentine’s Romantic Bouquet and Valentine’s Fresh Bouquet, Communal has something for every flower lover.

Herb & Sea’s Brunch

No Valentine’s Day is complete without roses and chocolate, so Herb & Sea, Encinitas’ best brunch spot, is celebrating the holiday accordingly. Throughout the month of February, Herb & Sea will be offering three Valentine-themed flavors of their secret menu item, Unholy Donuts. Flavors include the Pistacho Rose with a strawberry rose water glaze and candied pistachio garnish, Chocolate Raspberry with a gooey chocolate filling and raspberry sugar, and Tiramisu highlighting a mascarpone cream filling, coffee run glaze and cocoa. These limited edition Unholy Donuts can be ordered during Herb & Sea’s Sunday brunch, from 10AM to 2PM, with reservations available via the website here.

Wormwood

University Heights’ new absinthe bar and bistronomie, Wormwood, will open at 5PM on Monday, February 14 to offer an exclusive, six-course prix fixe dinner experience in its Parisian-style dining room and outdoor garden patio. Priced at $100 per person, the night’s special menu will include Bahia Falsa oysters with champagne and caviar; Baja striped bass crudo in passionfruit chileatole with pickled cucumber and crispy brisket; beets with duck liver mousse, blood orange and endive; local Petrale sole meunière with artichoke hearts and purslane; aged Liberty Farms duck breast and mushroom-stuffed quail with con­fit chile relleno and pomegranate; and for dessert, an absinthe flambéd Baked Alaska comprised of chocolate chaud cake, red pistachio bombe, raspberry sorbet and maraschino cherries.

Wine pairings selected especially for this prix fixe menu will be available for an additional charge, or guests can order from Wormwood’s menu of classic and crafty cocktails – including the pink-hued Le Volcan made with absinthe and tequila blanco and featuring pomegranate, watermelon and pink peppercorn lava salt. Weekend guests are also in luck! Wormwood’s prix fixe Valentine’s menu is also available the preceding Saturday and Sunday alongside a limited version of the restaurant’s nightly dinner menu. North Italia

North Italia’s three-course prix fixe menu is now open for reservations via OpenTable to celebrate the romantic holiday with your S.O. or favorite Galentines. Diners will be able to choose one starter, one entrée and one dessert
for $65. In addition to fan-favorite standout dishes including Chicken Parmesan, Red Wine Glazed Short Rib, Spicy Rigatoni Vodka and House Bolognese, new selections on this year’s menu include:

  • (Starter) Cacio e Pepe Lobster Risotto – grana padano frico, parsley, evoo
  • (Entrée) Roasted Butternut Squash Anolini – broccolini, toasted hazelnuts, espelette pepper, brown butter emulsion, herb breadcrumbs

This Valentine’s Day, treat yourself to San Diego’s finest at North Park’s Louisiana Purchase. Enjoy Chef Quinnton ‘Q’ Austin’s authentic New Orleans taste with his 4-Course Dinner for Two. Priced at $194, you’ll be treated to a chopped salad followed up with a choice between brown butter scallops and bone marrow soup. The main course gives you an option between roast chicken, 16oz prime ribeye, or honey chili salmon, all with accompanying sides.
