Hawks, Hops, and Zero Waste: Living Coast’s Farm to Bay Fundraiser
The Living Coast Discovery Center will host its 15th annual Farm to Bay Fundraiser with a tasting event has become a favorite South Bay summer tradition.
Combining sampling from local food and beverage partners with up-close animal encounters and exquisite views, the event is uniquely set inside the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
All proceeds from the event support coastal wildlife, education and sustainability programs at the nonprofit zoo/aquarium in Chula Vista that has served local families for generations.
Highlights of the Farm to Bay Event
The event will feature live entertainment, auctions, and—of course!—all of the Living Coast Discovery Center’s beloved animal ambassadors, including endangered sea turtles, sharks, hawks, eagles, owls, and more.
Farm to Bay is the Living Coast’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year’s sold-out event set a new fundraising record with $150,000 in net proceeds.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
Keeping its commitment to environmental sustainability, The Living Coast has taken the necessary steps toward producing a zero-waste event by working closely with its partners to reduce overall waste and offer reusable and earth-friendly materials.
Event waste is hand-sorted and composted on-site by a team of staff and volunteers. In 2023, over 93 percent of event waste was recycled or composted and diverted from landfills, exceeding the 90 percent threshold for an event to be considered zero waste.
