Get on the Water: HarborFest Returns to Chula Vista
Yes, HarborFest is back. After seven years off, the Chula Vista waterfront is rolling out a full day of on-the-bay experiences, live music, food, and pretty much every good reason to spend a day by the water. And the best part – general admission is free.
The City of Chula Vista is bringing it back reimagined, with expanded programming, a real nod to the community’s maritime history, and a focus on getting us out onto the bayfront instead of just alongside it.

The Water Way
Here’s what we’re most excited about: The Water Way. This is the heart of the festival, and it’s all about getting us on the water. A few of the ways to jump in:
- Seal Tour: a guided ride by land and sea that rolls through the streets before splashing straight into the bay for waterfront views and marine wildlife sightings.
- Paddleboarding with Chula Vista Water Sports: think demos, rentals, guided tours, and instruction along one of the prettiest stretches of coastline we’ve got.
- Kayaking: beginner-friendly, all ages and skill levels welcome, with hands-on instruction, safety gear, and plenty of guidance if we’re brand new to it.

A handful of Water Way activities carry a small fee, but the festival itself stays free.
Around the Bayfront
The rest of the bayfront? Just as good. Live music rolls out at the Flagship Stage and the Waterfront Tap Garden, and the Dockside Beats Latin Stage brings the Latin music and dance energy. Then there’s The Coastal Collective, an artisan marketplace stocked with local makers and coastal-inspired goods – the kind of place we can happily lose an hour to.
Bringing the kids? Mermaid & Mariner Cove is a dedicated children’s zone packed with hands-on activities and entertainment. And over at Harbor Showdown & Street Eats, expect Lucha Libre wrestling (yes, really), culinary experiences, and a lineup of local food vendors worth showing up hungry for.

The Tides & Tastes Pass
Want to do it in style? The Tides & Tastes Pass is a limited-run upgrade for a more relaxed way to take it all in. The pass gets us preferred viewing near the Flagship Stage, shaded lounge seating, dedicated restrooms, private bar access, one chef-curated taco plate, and two hosted beverages (beer, wine, or non-alcoholic options – pick your vibe).
Advance tickets start at $49 plus fees, or $29 for under-21. Prices bump up to $59 for the standard window and $69 the day of, so it’s worth grabbing early if this sounds like our speed.
