La Jolla Music Society’s Star-Studded Lineup
The La Jolla Music Society’s 56th Anniversary is gearing up and it’s looking like a who’s who of musical royalty, from jazz legends to classical virtuosos.
Jazz Titans Take Center Stage
Kicking things off, we’ve got the incomparable Anat Cohen and her Quartetinho bringing their globe-trotting sound to the intimate Concerts @ The JAI on October 6.
The one and only Chris Botti will be gracing The Baker-Baum Concert Hall on October 20. This trumpet maestro has played with everyone from Sting to Lady Gaga, so you know he’s bringing the heat.
And for all you Wayne Shorter fans out there, October 27 is your night. Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade are teaming up to pay tribute to the jazz legend, with Mark Turner joining in on the fun.
A Global Musical Journey
Ready for a trip south of the border? The “Queen of Mariachi” herself, Aída Cuevas, is bringing her GRAMMY-winning vocals to the Balboa Theatre on October 13.
And if you’re in the mood for something truly unique, don’t miss Abel Selaocoe and his Bantu Ensemble on October 24. This rising star cellist is blending African and Western traditions in ways that’ll make your head spin (in the best way possible).
Classical Excellence
For those craving some classical brilliance, the Takács Quartet is celebrating their 50th anniversary at The Baker-Baum Concert Hall on October 26. Haydn, Ravel, and Beethoven are all on the menu.
