Spend Halloween Weekend With the Secret Society of Adultologists
There is a version of Halloween that involves corpse flowers, tarot cards, and a DJ set on a museum rooftop. The Secret Society of Adultologists is that version.
By end of October, The Nat hands over all five floors for a 21+ party built around life, death, and everything in between. Costumes optional, but the room will be full of people who took the assignment seriously.
From Decomposition to the Afterlife, One Floor at a Time
The building is organized as a journey. You move through decomposition and fossilization, then pollination and harvest, and end up somewhere near the afterlife.
Museum scientists and local experts are stationed along the way with specimens, pop-up activities, and answers to the questions you have probably never had a good excuse to ask. Corpse flowers and venomous reptile myths are both on the table.
Tarot in the Research Library, Ghost Stories in the Board Room
The Whaley House team brings paranormal detection gear. Tarot readers set up in the Research Library, which is not a sentence we get to write often.
A ghost story swap runs in the Board Room Bar, and a scavenger hunt stretches across the whole building. There is a costume contest, a Pixster photobooth, and caricatures from Coloring Book Factory if you want proof you were there.
A Bar on Every Floor, DJ Chino and DJ Stonefish on Two
Two dance floors, two very different rooms. DJ Chino works the Atrium, which fills up early, while DJ Stonefish takes the rooftop and holds the late crowd. Both run until close.
Bars sit on every floor, so you are never more than a staircase from a cocktail or a mocktail. The Dive Bar is doing bioluminescent drinks, and food comes from The Craft Taco in the Atrium and Wolf in the Woods on the roof. All of it is available for purchase.
One Hour Behind the Museum’s Closed Doors
VIP is where this gets interesting. Beyond priority entry and a welcome drink from the Nat Bar, it includes an hour-long tour through the collections and back-of-house spaces that are normally off-limits.
Tours run in four time slots with 12 guests max per group, and you pick your time at checkout. If you have ever wondered what a natural history museum keeps in the rooms you cannot see, this is the ticket.
