Spend a Sunday Evening With Beethoven and the San Diego Symphony at the Rady Shell
The San Diego Symphony is bringing one of the most beloved programs in the classical repertoire to the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park for an evening of pure Beethoven under the open sky.
Conductor Yaniv Dinur leads the Orchestra through a full night of the composer’s most iconic works, with pianist Parker Van Ostrand joining as soloist for the centrepiece of the evening.

Three Beethoven Masterworks in One Evening
The night is all Beethoven, from start to finish – and it’s a program that builds beautifully:
- Overture to Egmont, Op. 84 – A dramatic and stirring opening that sets the tone for the evening
- Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major, Op. 73, “Emperor” – The monumental concerto featuring Parker Van Ostrand, whose noble themes, lyrical slow movement, and dazzling finale embody Beethoven’s bold, heroic spirit at its fullest
- Symphony No. 4 in B-flat Major, Op. 60 – A joyful and energetic symphony that brings the evening to a triumphant close
A Stage as Grand as the Music Itself
The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is one of San Diego’s most beautiful outdoor concert venues – open air, right on the waterfront, with the bay as a backdrop and the summer sky overhead. For a program this grand, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting setting.
