Experience An Exclusive One-Night Only Evil Dead Rise Experience At Mmm…Cakes

Grab your deadite costume and head on over to Mmm…Cakes on Saturday, April 15 for the Evil Dead Rise experience of a lifetime. The iconic Downtown Chula Vista bakery will be hosting an exclusive event filled with Evil Dead Rise themed giveaways and terrifying, one-of-a-kind pastries and drinks, created by Co-Owner and Executive Chef, Jose Barajas.

This free event will take place from 6PM–9PM, while supplies last.

Mmm…Cakes celebrates Halloween early

“Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I’m so excited to be able to celebrate the halfway point this year, with such an exciting event,” said Jose Barajas, Co-Owner and Executive Chef of Mmm…Cakes. “If you know me, you know we put our heart and soul into every hosted event we do and participate in, so we can’t wait for everyone to come and see our take on an Evil Dead Rise pop-up.”

Originally created as a small home-based cake and dessert business in 2013, Chula Vista native, Jose Barajas, has quickly become a staple in the community and in the baking world, participating in competition shows like TLC’s Next Great Baker and Food Network’s Cake Wars and Holiday Gingerbread Showdown.

His success and passion created an opportunity to partner with his brother and sister-in-law, Miguel and Stevie, and open Mmm…Cakes in 2021 along the historic Third Avenue in Downtown Chula Vista. A proponent of the communities he lives and works in, Jose has been a key figure in the revitalization of Downtown Chula Vista, serving on the District Identity & Placemaking Committee of the Downtown Chula Vista Association.

The Evil Dead Rise Experience

The Evil Dead Rise Experience at Mmm…Cakes will take place on Saturday, April 15 from 6PM-9PM, or while supplies last. The free event will include some gruesome surprises such as red velvet brain cakes and bloody heart chocolate cakes, as well as a non-alcoholic bloody lemonade and an alcoholic Evil Dead-themed sangria.

Additionally, there will be film-related giveaways and photo opportunities. In celebration of Halloween’s halfway point, attendees are encouraged to join in the fun and dress in their favorite deadite attire or other horror film icon.

“Evil Dead Rise” opens wide in North America on April 21, 2023.
