Harvest for Heroes Brings Together Great Food and a Great Cause at Fox Point Farms
Shelter to Soldier is teaming up with Fox Point Farms and Dija Mara for Harvest for Heroes, a community fundraising event in Encinitas that brings together good food, local vendors, and a mission worth supporting.
Admission is free, and the afternoon is designed to connect the community while raising funds for veterans and shelter dogs in need.
Great Food for a Great Cause
The culinary lineup alone makes this worth the trip. Dija Mara – a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient and James Beard Award semifinalist known for its inventive Balinese-inspired cuisine – is bringing a curated selection of bites.
Fresh, seasonal offerings from Fox Point Farms round out the food program, highlighting locally sourced ingredients harvested right on-site. A variety of local vendors will also be on-site, each contributing a portion of proceeds to Shelter to Soldier’s mission.
Veterans, Shelter Dogs, and a Whole Lot of Purpose
Harvest for Heroes benefits two of Shelter to Soldier’s core programs. The Psychiatric Service Dog Training Program provides highly trained service dogs to post-9/11 veterans experiencing PTSD, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, and other service-related injuries.
The Morale Dog Program trains adopted shelter dogs as four-legged crew members aboard U.S. Navy ships, supporting the emotional wellness and mental health of sailors and marines. Both programs change lives – human and canine alike.
