Holy Matcha Celebrates Two Anniversaries With One Big Party

San Diego’s pink holy land of green tea and good vibes, Holy Matcha, is celebrating two anniversaries this month: three years of its original North Park location and one year of its newest East Village location.

Founder and owner Geraldine Ridaura has planned a day of festivities on Saturday at the North Park location to celebrate. The first 50 guests to arrive will receive a special gift bag filled with wellness products from like-minded businesses, plus, there will be a live DJ, pop-ups from local vendors, special pastries, a flower wall and other surprises.

The First and Only

When Ridaura opened the first café three years ago, she was nervous that the community wasn’t ready to embrace matcha, but it turns out she had no reason to worry. Since opening, the community has flocked to Holy Matcha for its signature matcha and wellness drinks, plant-based menu and aesthetically-minded interiors that offer a pink refuge from daily life. Since 2017, Ridaura has been the city’s advocate for the antioxidant rich green tea, and her café is an early pioneer of the matcha lifestyle.

Matcha Moves

In addition to food and drink, the brand’s merchandise is also incredibly popular and consistently sells out. Ridaura creates new designs, including apparel and items like notebooks and stickers, throughout the year. Fans can order these limited-edition items ahead of time in order to ensure they can add another piece to their collection. Holy Matcha also retails its own brand of packaged Ceremonial Matcha and bottles its best-selling Matcha Horchata, expanding its reach outside of San Diego.

About Holy Matcha

Opened in 2017 by entrepreneur Geraldine Ridaura, Holy Matcha was and still is the first dedicated matcha café in San Diego. Fueled by her love of the ancient, antioxidant rich Japanese green tea and her desire to make it accessible in her own city, Ridaura has sinced opened a second café thanks to Holy Matcha’s continued success.

The shops are focused on both traditional and modern preparations of the tea, offering both Ceremonial Matcha in its purest form, as well as an extensive menu of signature matcha drinks. To complement its matcha drinks, Holy Matcha also serves light, healthy dishes for breakfast and lunch, like the whimsical waffle bouquet and baked, organic matcha donuts.

See you there!
