La Jolla Concours Kicks Off 20 Years With a Luxe “Motorvault” Soirée by the Sea

If there’s one spring event that always delivers on style, it’s the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance. And for its 20th anniversary, the Friday VIP party is going all in.

This year’s theme – Motorvault: Masterpieces of Motion, Mystique, and Mastery – is set to transform Ellen Browning Scripps Park into a dramatic, vault-inspired world where rare cars are treated like priceless treasures.

La Jolla Concours VIP Opening Soirée

A Hidden World of Cars and Coastal Glamour

Over the years, the Friday VIP Soirée has become one of those nights people talk about long after the weekend wraps. Each theme completely reimagines the space, and this one leans into a private collector’s underworld vibe.

Think dramatic vault doors, shadowy passageways, jewel-toned lounges, and sculptural installations – all perched above the Pacific at golden hour. The cars won’t just be parked on display. They’ll be illuminated like works of art, blending mechanical mastery with gallery-level presentation.

It’s part immersive theater, part luxury party, and part automotive dreamscape.

Come Hungry – and Curious

The food lineup alone makes this worth it. More than 20 of San Diego’s top restaurants and culinary talents will be offering tastings throughout the evening, including The Amalfi Llama, Dobson’s, and Glass Box.

Expect refined bites, beautifully plated dishes, and cocktails with a little drama behind them. Add in live music, an energized live auction, and curated surprise moments woven throughout the space, and the whole evening feels layered in the best way.

This is the ceremonial start to Concours weekend, but it’s also one of the most polished social gatherings of the spring. Collectors, creatives, philanthropists, and car lovers all in one place, dressed up and ready for a night that feels a little transportive.

See you there!

We’ll be soaking in the ocean views, admiring the cars like they belong in a museum, and making a proper night of it in La Jolla.
