Catch LP and The Vinyl at Hidden City Sounds
Hidden City Sounds is hosting LP And The Vinyl for an evening that blends genre-bending music with a community jazz jam, and it’s completely free.
The band formed when renowned jazz, blues, and gospel singer Leonard Patton teamed up with the critically acclaimed Danny Green Trio, creating a sound that pulls from jazz, R&B, rock, 80s and 90s hits, Brazilian music, and classical influences.

Music With No Safety Nets
LP And The Vinyl’s repertoire draws from three distinct places: reimagined renditions of favorites by artists like Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and David Bowie, funky explorations of jazz standards, and their own original songs.
What ties it all together is the group’s ability to bring something fresh to the music every time they play, with every emotion fully on display.
Through Patton’s charisma and the interplay between pianist Danny Green, bassist Justin Grinnell, and drummer Julien Cantelm, this is a live show built for total immersion.
The Accolades Behind the Music
Since forming in 2015, LP And The Vinyl has performed at notable festivals and venues including the Telluride Jazz Festival, the Vail Jazz Festival, and the Museum of Making Music.
Their debut album, Heard And Seen, released on Origin Records in 2020, earned praise from jazz critic Travis Rogers Jr., who called them “a group worthy of special attention and reintroduction in jazz.”
Beyond performing, the band’s members are all dedicated music educators, holding faculty positions at the University of San Diego and Grossmont Community College, among other community programs.
