Celebrate 10 Years of Mt. Joy on the Bay at The Rady Shell

Mt. Joy has spent a decade turning road-worn, rootsy rock into the kind of songs a whole crowd ends up shouting back. NPR put it well: their songs “amble and converse and pulsate fervently until it’s time to get the crowd chanting along.”

The Philadelphia five-piece brings that 10-year celebration to The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, with the bay and the skyline doing what they always do at sunset.

Ten Years From Philly to Madison Square Garden

Mt. Joy formed in 2016 around Matt Quinn on vocals and guitar, Sam Cooper on guitar, Jackie Miclau on keys and piano, Sotiris Eliopoulos on drums, and Michael Byrnes on bass.

Three albums later – 2018’s Mt. Joy, 2020’s Rearrange Us, and 2022’s Orange Blood – the band hit a different gear in 2024, selling out Madison Square Garden, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, and Red Rocks. Their 70-date North American and European headline run moved more than 180,000 tickets.

They have since crossed a billion global streams and half a million tickets sold, with “Silver Lining,” “Jenny Jenkins,” “Lemon Tree,” “Strangers,” “Highway Queen,” and “She Wants to Go Dancing” all landing in the Top 5 on AAA radio.

The Songs Behind Hope We Have Fun

Their fourth LP, Hope We Have Fun, runs 13 tracks about the highs, lows, and quiet moments of a life lived on the road, with Quinn’s vocals sitting over intricate, rootsy playing.

Quinn frames the record as a look back at everything the five of them have survived together: “We’ve all worked incredibly hard together and done ridiculous things in sickness and in health. You just kind of look up and you’re at Madison Square Garden with these people, and it makes you emotional.”

Only 125 People Get the VIP Conversation

The Conversation with Mt. Joy VIP Experience is capped at 125 packages for the night. It comes with a general admission ticket plus a Q&A session where the band takes fan questions, tells road stories, and talks about new music.

You also get a personal photo opportunity with the band, an exclusive VIP merch gift, a commemorative laminate and lanyard, early entry, and a shot at the merch table before doors open to the public.

One Dollar From Every Ticket Goes to Charity

A dollar from every ticket sold goes to charity, so the night does a little work beyond the setlist.

One scheduling note worth knowing: this is a rental event at The Rady Shell presented by Live Nation, and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra does not perform on this bill.

See you there!

Ten years is a long time for five people to stay in a van together. Come sing the choruses back to them with the bay at your back.
