Looking for fresh-air plans that do good for your soul and the environment? Local nonprofit Nature Collective is hosting five free events throughout May, inviting San Diegans of all ages to explore the San Elijo Lagoon and surrounding preserves through nature walks, festivals, and hands-on restoration experiences.

Discovery Tour
Saturday, May 3 | 10 AM–11:30 AM
San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center
Explore the unique coastal ecosystem where saltwater and freshwater meet. This guided walk on an accessible trail is great for anyone 9 and up.

Spring Nature Festival
Sunday, May 4 | 10 AM–1 PM
San Dieguito County Park
Perfect for families with little ones! Expect live animals, eco-crafts, an eco-scavenger hunt, and interactive booths about pollinators, nests, and plant life.

Wednesday, May 7 & Saturday, May 17 | 9 AM–12 PM
San Elijo Lagoon
Get your hands dirty for a good cause—help remove invasive species and restore native habitats. Family-friendly and great for kids 6+.
