OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off is Back for its 46th Year
Ocean Beach does summer better than most neighborhoods, and the OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off is a big reason why. Every year, Newport Avenue transforms into one of the best all-day hang spots in San Diego – free admission, live music, local art, and enough chili to fuel a small army.
This year marks the 46th edition, presented by Buzz Cannabis, and it’s shaping up to be a full day worth clearing your schedule for.

A Street Fair That Delivers
Six blocks of Newport Avenue and the waterfront come alive with food vendors, handcrafted goods, and artists showcasing their work in Artists’ Alley. The Community Mural Project is back, too, inviting people of all ages to add to a collaborative piece of art that captures the spirit of the neighborhood.
There are also multiple Fun Zones scattered throughout, making it easy to keep the whole crew entertained.

The Main Event: Chili
The Chili Cook-Off is the heart of this thing. Amateur cooks and local restaurants go head-to-head competing for the People’s Choice Award and Judges’ Awards, and the crowd gets to weigh in.
Grab tasting tickets, work your way through everything from classic recipes to spiced-up creative takes, and cast your vote. It’s the kind of activity that turns strangers into friends pretty quickly.

Live Music All Day
Two stages run continuous performances from morning to evening, pulling from rock, blues, bluegrass, Americana, reggae, funk, country rock, surf rock, and acoustic – a lineup that fits the OB vibe perfectly.
The Sunset Stage near the waterfront doubles as the hub for the Chili Cook-Off winner announcements and eating contests, while the 92107 Stage at Newport Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard keeps a second full day of local talent going simultaneously.
Performers across both stages include the Suede Grenades, ZB Savoy, Shakedown String Band, Three-Legged Dog, Electric Waste Band, the Resinators, Band of Gringos, Black Mountain Backstep, Kris Wott & Lower Voltaire, Dave Gilbert Band, Zavala Sol, and more. There’s always something going on somewhere along the fairgrounds.
The Beergarden
If you want to sit back and take it all in, the Ocean Beergarden is the spot. It’s a 21+ area right by the waterfront with craft beer, cocktails, and live music, plus views looking out over the Pacific. This is where a lot of people end up when the chili cook-off winners get announced.

See you there!
The OB Street Fair has been a San Diego summer staple for 46 years. It’s the kind of day that reminds you why living here is pretty great.
