Art Lovers Are Invited To The Oceanside Museum Of Art Exhibition Celebration!

The San Diego community is invited to join the Oceanside Museum of Art’s Exhibition Celebration, taking place on Saturday, November 18, 2023. This event promises to be a highlight of the weekend, showcasing a range of recently opened exhibitions by acclaimed artists and offering attendees an opportunity to explore and appreciate their works.

In addition to celebrating exhibitions by Deena Altman and John Halaka, the winner of the 2023/24 Artist Alliance Biennial Exhibition will be announced at the Exhibition Celebration. Jonathon Glus, Executive Director for the Arts & Culture, San Diego, will judge this exceptional selection and decide the winner who will receive the Grand Prize of a Solo Exhibition at OMA next year!

2023/24 Artists Alliance Biennial

Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) 2023/24 Artist Alliance Biennial Exhibition is a juried show celebrating the best of OMA’s artist community.  This biennial showcases 75 artworks from 62 Artist Alliance members, chosen from 1,149 submissions by 303 artists.

Jonathon Glus, Executive Director for the Arts & Culture, San Diego, will judge this exceptional selection and decide the winner at the Exhibition Celebration on the exhibition opening night. The event is a unique opportunity for both emerging and established artists in the region, with the Grand Prize being a Solo Exhibition at OMA next year!

Deena Altman: Female Rising

Deena Altman’s thought-provoking 8-part series presents a vivid exploration of the life journey of women, from infancy to old age. Each life stage serves as a canvas to portray the unique challenges faced by women and how these challenges mold their life paths. Altman’s work sheds light on the subtle yet prevalent societal biases that impact women’s lives, both detrimental and beneficial to their development. “Female Rising” offers a compelling commentary on the shared experiences of women and men alike.

Listening to the Heard/Drawing the Unseen: Meditations on Presence and Absence in Native Lands. Drawings by John Halaka

Visitors will be transported into the profound world of visual artist John Halaka, a San Diego-based talent. Halaka’s selection of drawings delves into the themes of displacement and indigenous resilience. His work is deeply informed by personal stories of activists, scholars, and artists. Additionally, Halaka’s art acknowledges the often-overlooked work of indigenous and migrant farmers and laborers.

2023 Plein Air Festival Juried Exhibition

Oceanside Museum of Art presents a selection of works from its second biennial Oceanside Plein Air Festival, which took place in July. The exhibition celebrates the artistic talents of individuals at all levels of experience and captures the seamless blend of nature and artistic expression.

Tickets are currently available for purchase for $15 per person, free for OMA members.

See you there, San Diego!
