Stretch it Out With Open Air Yoga at San Diego Botanic Garden
San Diego Botanic Garden is worth the drive up to Encinitas on just about any Saturday. Add a yoga mat to the morning and it turns into something you will want to repeat.
Open Air Yoga takes over a corner of the grounds on Saturday with a gentle class that runs from 9 AM to 10 AM. No mirrors, no studio walls, just the sights, smells, and sounds of the garden while you move.
An Hour of Slow Movement in the Open Air
The class is gentle by design. Expect unhurried, deliberate movement rather than a sweat-through-your-shirt flow, with the garden doing most of the scene setting for you.
You leave restored and rejuvenated rather than wrung out, which is the whole point of a 9 AM start on a Saturday. It is the kind of hour that makes the rest of the day feel slower in the best way.
Bring a Mat, a Hat, and Some Sunscreen
Bring your own mat. The class sits outdoors with limited shade, so sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat all earn their spot in your bag this time of year.
Give yourself a buffer, too. Arrive about ten minutes early, since the class location takes a few minutes to reach on foot once you are through the entrance.
Register by 5 PM Friday for the Lower Rate
Pre-registration closes at 5 PM the day before class, which means Friday, October 2, for this one. Book ahead and non-member tickets run $27, or $17 if you are a member.
Walk-ups are welcome at $30 for non-members and $20 for members, space permitting, and the door takes credit card only. Either way, your class fee covers daytime garden admission.
That last part matters. Roll up your mat at 10 AM and you still have the rest of the grounds, so plan to wander the trails while the morning is still cool.
