Santa Paws Brings the Gaslamp Pet Parade Back for the Holidays

If you’ve been waiting all year to dress your pet in a ridiculous holiday outfit and parade them through downtown San Diego, December 13 is your day. The Gaslamp Pet Parade returns, bringing furry friends, festive costumes, and that specific brand of chaos that only comes from hundreds of pets gathering in one place.

The Main Event

Pets of all kinds – dogs, cats, and every fur baby in between – can strut through the historic Gaslamp Quarter in their holiday best. Registration is $30 per pet if you want to walk in the parade, though watching from Gaslamp patios is free and honestly might be the smarter move if your pet isn’t parade-ready.

The event features live marching bands, festive floats, and eight holiday costume contest categories, so there’s serious competition for best-dressed.

Free photos with Santa, Rudolph, and Frosty are available throughout the day, giving you those Instagram-worthy shots that justify all the effort you put into your pet’s costume.

Pups in the Pub Party

After the parade wraps, head to the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter for the Pups in the Pub Party. Free pet caricatures, seasonal sips for humans, pup treats for your four-legged companion, and holiday music create the perfect post-parade wind-down.

The Costume Contest Awards happen here too, so stick around if you’re convinced your pet deserves recognition.
