619 Spirits Wins USA Today’s Award For Best Craft Vodka Distillery
San Diego’s very own 619 Spirits has won the 2019 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Craft Vodka Distillery. After 4 weeks of voting, the contest closed on September 28th and the winners were announced on Friday, October 4th.
Nominees for all categories were chosen by a panel of experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com and relevant expert contributors, who picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.
A line-up of award-winning vodkas
619’s line-up of award-winning vodkas 619 Spirits was founded by San Diego local, Nick Apostolopoulos, in 2012 and the 4,200 square foot distillery and tasting room took up residence in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood in July of 2018. One of only a handful of distillers operating in the city of San Diego, the distillery and tasting room features 619’s line-up of award winning vodkas, as well as a full food and cocktail menu.
The reclaimed industrial space sits at the corner of 30th Street and Lincoln Avenue and houses a custom-made two-column 1,000L still along with a dog-friendly outdoor patio.
Known for its premium handcrafted vodka and signature all-natural vodka infusions, 619 Spirits is distilled entirely from cane sugar resulting in a uniquely clean and smooth taste, texture and natural absence of gluten. Vodka’s are hand-infused with local San Diego ingredients, including Scorpion Peppers, Rose Petals, Coffee, Pickle and Cucumber infusions, along with a variety of seasonal creations.
Beyond the distillery’s signature vodkas, the tasting room exclusively features a selection of local San Diego craft spirits, along with beer, wine and Kombucha. The tasting room also offers lunch, dinner and late night menu, where guests will find a more elevated bar menu, in addition to a weekend brunch.
Congratulations, 619 Spirits!
