7 Flights Of San Diego: Foodie Edition

Flights!

No, I am not talking about the type of flights that you soar in the sky with, I am talking about the kind of flights you can eat and drink! Flights have been a popular way for restaurants to offer samples of their selections, which in my opinion, is GENIUS!

What better branding way to advertise your restaurant with the perfect Instagram-worthy flight photo?!

Here are 7 flights you need to try!

1. Hammond’s Ice Cream Flights

Hammond’s Ice Cream is serving up flights in a sweet way! With flight options all the way up to 32 scoops of ice cream, this flight is for the sweet tooths out there! Hammond’s is located in Pacific Beach, North Park, and Point Loma.

Don’t worry, if you want to try just a couple flavors, flights of 6 are available, or just one scoop too! Three of us tried to devour this monster, and we only accomplished half, so get ready to slurp down ice cream with a couple of friends!

2. Communal Coffee: Latte and Toast Flights

Communal Coffee, located in North Park, serves up toast flights and latte flights that taste as good as they look!

The latte flight has three different flavored lattes: lavender latte, rose latte, and traditional latte – although these flavors are constantly changing!

The toast flight included a caprese, avocado and egg, and a goat cheese and lavender toast. This toast and latte combo is beyond perfect.

3. Ballast Point: Beer Flights

Beer flights are so necessary in San Diego, which is totally the beer capitol in the world!

Ballast Point brews all of their own beers, and with their beer flight option, you can try four beers in a flight! My favorites were the Barmy (honey and apricot ale) and the Grapefruit Sculpin. Ballast Point is famous for their traditional Sculpin IPA, which can be found at many restaurants throughout San Diego.

Their food accompanies their beer perfectly. Pictured above is their cheesy toast, a crowd favorite – along with their BBQ pulled pork sandwich, which is my favorite!

Ballast Point has locations in San Diego, Little Italy, Miramar, Scripps Ranch, Temecula, and Long Beach.

4. Urge Gastropub: Whiskey Flights

Urge, located on PCH in Oceanside, is the ideal spot for any true whiskey lover with their whiskey flights. Urge has hundreds of whiskeys ready to be poured, as they consider themselves a whiskey bank.

The flights are for sipping, and they pair perfectly with their beer flights on tap also! My favorite beer they have is the Fur De Titten, which is an in-house brewed watermelon cucumber beer, with a light pink color, representing Breast Cancer Awareness.

Urge also has some awesome bites. Their California Burger (pictured above) with actual fries on the burger, is also topped off with guacamole, creating the perfect spin off the popular California burrito.

5. Crushed: Mimosa Flights

Crushed, located in Pacific Beach, was made famous for their photogenic mimosa flights. These flights blew up on Instagram, as everyone wanted ‘that’ photo.

They taste as good as they look with their unique flavors – classic with fresh OJ, apple cider, pina colada, lavender, rosemary, and elderflower! In addition to the best mimosas, Crushed also has tasty bites to go along with the sips!

Bennies are the most popular dishes here.

We had the prosciutto bennie (benedict), along with their stinky goat cheese flatbread! (Ally from GoSeekExplore pictured above with me!)

6. Breakfast Republic: Pancake and French Toast Flights

Breakfast Republic is taking breakfast and brunch to a whole new level. Located in Encinitas, Liberty Station, and North Park, you will not regret coming hungry to this place! Breakfast Republic is serving up pancake flights with options of strawberry cheesecake, Oreo cookie, cinnamon roll, pineapple upside-down, churro, bacon, and traditional pancakes!

They also have French toast flights with options of banana split, s’mores, lemon & coconut, peanut butter banana, strawberry, cinnamon raisin, and classic!

These flavors are constantly changing, so be sure to stop by to see the new specials! Breakfast Republic also has local antioxidant juice shot flights and latte flights!

Another highlight from the drink menu is their Oreo cookie latte (pictured below).

7. Café 21: Mojito, Sangria, and Mimosa Flights

Café 21, located in the heart of the Gaslamp, is serving up mojito, sangria, and mimosa flights. Café 21 has a farm-to-table feel with their rustic décor and fresh food. All their cocktail flavors are fresh, such as cucumber, pear, and grapefruit.

They always are changing up their menu with the trendiest flavors, so be sure to check out what they have currently!
