And here’s exactly how you get down: On Wednesday, October 4th, shut down your computer and take yourself on a little journey to San Diego Mesa College for an evening showcase of design and discovery.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., feast your eyes on the fashion that occurs when students in San Diego Mesa’s design program teamed up with researchers at the Salk Institute – longtime explorers of the myriad connections between art and science.

Salk researchers provided biological images to the aspiring designers at San Diego Mesa, which were then used to inspire and create incredible fashion pieces.

The collaboration comes as part of a larger mission to raise awareness and critically needed funds for scientific research.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Salk Women & Science Special Awards Initiative, which provides awards to female scientists conducting high-risk research projects.
