Did You Know There’s A Monet Masterpiece In San Diego Right Now?

If you’ve got a bucket list, may we suggest adding one monumental item to the bunch: Seeing a Monet in the flesh (or in the paint, rather)!

And if you’re the type of person who adds something you’ve just done to the list, just to feel good about crossing it off, then boy do we have the treat for you:

Head over to the San Diego Museum of Art to witness one beautiful, one-of-a-kind, bonafide Monet masterpiece of French Impressionism.

The 1904 painting Le Bassin de Numpheas is part of 250 pieces Monet created of the lily pond in his garden at Giverny (who knew, persistence and perfectionism pays off!).

The canvas will be on display through January 21st, 2018 in the Gluck Gallery on the second floor of the Museum, where it can be viewed alongside three Post-Impressionist works of art from The San Diego Museum of Art’s permanent collection.

I want the unobtainable. Other artists paint a bridge, a house, a boat, and that’s the end. They are finished. I want to paint the air which surrounds the bridge, the house, the boat, the beauty of the air in which these objects are located, and that is nothing short of impossible.” – Claude Monet

We feel you, Monet. We feel you.
