Himitsu Brings World-Class Sushi With A Personal Touch To La Jolla

I kind of don’t want to tell you about Himitsu…so you don’t go…so I can have it all to myself.

It’s that good.

I’ve been looking for my ‘go-to’ sushi joint since moving here a few years ago, and this may have won me over.

A joint venture between the owners of The Taco Stand and restaurateur, Edo Kobayashi, the owner of several Japanese restaurants located in Mexico City, Himitsu is a manifestation of melding sushi expertise with experiential dining.

The space itself seats a total of 30 guests, consisting of eight bar seats and 22 patio seats, making it a prime destination for those seeking a more intimate dining experience.

Which, in addition to absolutely amazing sushi, is what I really loved about Himitsu. In contrast to a lot of sushi restaurants, it’s exudes a very informal, neighborly feel where customers get to know the chefs, and each dish is prepared with attention to your individual tastes.

Chef Mitsu brings 17 years of experience from the highly-acclaimed Sushi Ota with him, where he honed his craft with a focus on delivering a premium service to match topnotch Japanese fare.

The menu will feature a unique focus on nigiri and sashimi style sushi, both preparations that emphasize the high-quality fish that the restaurant will serve, which is something that Chef Mitsu considers to be a vital component when it comes to preparing anything worthy of serving his patrons.

His omakase menu will change nightly, showcasing both traditional sushi arts as well as creative small plate offerings.

Himitsu is open for dinner on Monday through Friday from 5-10 p.m., Saturdays from 5-1030 p.m.

Sushi-lovers…don’t wait on this. I have a feeling it will be a hard table to get very soon!

See you there!
