Mustangs & Burros Unveils New Baja-Inspired Food And Cocktail Menu

Mustangs & Burros, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa’s Baja-inspired restaurant, has unveiled an updated Baja coastal-inspired menu with a Southern California twist, ideal for enjoying on their fireside patio that feels more like a luxurious Mexican vacation escape than dinner in La Jolla.

Baja coastal-inspired with a Southern California twist

An ideal spot to sip cocktails and enjoy an array of tasty starters, kick things off with the Barbacoa Sopes with refried black bean, asadero cheese, beef cheek, short rib and Mustangs’s slaw; Cauliflower Frito, crispy cauliflower, tequila-soaked sultanas, spicy pepitas and lime crema; or the Shrimp Agua Chile Verde made with avocado, jalapeño, pickled onion and aged cotija.

For entrees try the Prime Tomahawk Chop served with chimichurri, roasted garlic and Maldon sea salt or the Crispy Skin Salmon with Yukon potato, street corn, baby arugula, chipotle aioli and charred lemon. Taco lovers will have no shortage of options with five tacos to choose from, including Duck Carnitas, Baja Fish, Veggie (a mix of roasted wild mushrooms and corn), Birria De Res and Conchinita.

Vacation-worthy cocktails

The updated cocktail collection at Mustangs & Burros is not to be missed and includes the Common Sense made with Double Diamante, Cointreau, coconut, avocado, agave and lime; the Watermelon Sugar Fire made with Habanero infused You & Yours Vodka, watermelon chamoy paleta, watermelon and tajin; and the 5-Star Review made with 400 Conejos Mezcal, ancho Chile liqueur, tamarindo, lime and agave (All $16).
