Co-owner Luis Gonzalez, who also operates the Lupe’s Mexican Eatery locations in San Diego and Orange County as well as Holy Paleta in Bonita and Little Italy, is so excited for this new concept with a menu based on traditional seafood specialties from Sinaloa and Baja, including raw plates featuring scallops or chocolate clams, fiery aguachiles, and Ensenada-style fish and lobster tacos.

What makes us different

To differentiate El Viejon from other mariscos spots, Gonzalez says that each dish will have an element of Asian flavor or ingredient, from daikon radish to sesame seeds to spicy oil made with peanuts and arbol chiles. Cooked to order at an interactive, fast-casual counter, the menu will also include build-your-own ceviche with a variety of sauces.

There is also a variety of beer, Micheladas, margaritas, bottled Mexican sodas, and craft agua frescas. Our team loves to innovate, come up with new concepts and challenges,  and we serve the highest quality of seafood and ingredients to become the best Mexican – Asian seafood spot in San Diego. We are excited to welcome our customers into our new concept in seafood with an Asian twist at Convoy District. We want people to see El Viejon as a place to enjoy great seafood with great ambiance.

See you there, San Diego!
