ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station is home to over 140 working artists, craft studios, and more ready to help you learn a new skill or continue to master one. Embrace your inner artist with music and painting workshops or focus on your body’s overall health and wellness with dance classes and circus performance art. Regardless of your age or skill level, there is something for everyone, with endless options.

Circus Performance

Learn the magic of circus performance art with classes at Art in Flexion, Cirque school is based on a mindful foundation that helps to train your body not only for difficult tricks, but for long term health. Class options include strength training for circus arts, hand balancing, contortion, flexibility, and more! Owner Hanna Denham is a Medical Exercise Specialist, a Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Specialist committed to providing training for the traditional circus arts in an exceptional learning environment.

Arts & Craft Workshops

Get crafty with a variety of classes at San Diego Craft Collective including weaving, macrame, woodworking, glass fusing, and more. Learn the basics of knitting and crocheting during a class at Apricot Yarn & Supply, then shop their selection of yarn, patterns and tools to create your own masterpieces. Commonly known as “underwater gardening”, create a living piece of art in an aquarium setting during a hands-on workshop at Hakkai, San Diego’s first aquatic art gallery dedicated to the craft of aquascaping. Check out a five-week Wheel Throwing class at
Milk Oolong Studio along with private lessons and take-home kits.

Let your inner artist shine with a variety of art classes and workshops including colored pencils and quilting at Karen Jones Fine Art, watercolor workshops at San Diego Watercolor Society, mixed media workshops in everything from collage and paint to charcoal and stencils at Anne Gaffey Art. Plus, learn to capture the art of capturing the moment in time with photography workshops at Outside the Lens.

Dance Classes From Some Of San Diego’s Best

Slip on your dancing shoes with a variety of dance classes from some of San Diego’s longest standing professional dance organizations. Feel the rhythm during weekly modern classes or enjoy classes in contemporary, jazz, modern, and ballet at Malashock Dance. Check out The Rosin Box Project for classes in traditional ballet along with contemporary, lyrical and groove available for all skill levels from beginner to advance professional. Dance from the comfort of your own home with San Diego Dance Theater’s assortment of pre-recorded online classes in styles including modern, contemporary, and movement for wellness.

Music Classes For All Ages

Whether you are a seasoned pro or just beginning to explore, Apt 4 Music offers music instructional sessions in everything from guitar and piano to drums and vocals for musicians of all ages. Introduce the art of music to the little hands in your life with music and movement classes at Songbirds Music including Canta y Baila Conmigo, Music Together and Rhythm Kids perfect for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. San Diego Youth Symphony’s ChIMES program also proves you are never too young to fall in love with music during their 8-week “On the Go! Transportation” session featuring songs and activities about cars, trucks, planes, trains and other things that move happening January 19 through March 12.

Ice Skating At Rady Children’s Ice Rink

Start training for the Winter Olympics at the Rady Children’s Ice Rink. In partnership with NTC Foundation and
Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, the outdoor ice rink is located in the picturesque Central Promenade at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. All proceeds from the ice rink benefit the Thriving After Cancer program at the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital. This year will feature additional safety protections including hand hygiene stations and disinfectant spray for the skates and helmets. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for children and $10 for military or groups over 10 people. Tickets are available for purchase online here and the rink will run through January 9.
