Celebrate Women’s History Month With Bivouac Ciderworks

A woman’s place is — in the kitchen, in the cidery, in the roastery, on stage, at the head of the table, and running the company. In honor of International Women’s Day (March 8th) and Women’s History Month, women-powered San Diego cider pioneer, Bivouac Ciderworks, will host a number of happenings at its North Park taproom throughout the month of March, raising a glass of cider to women everywhere.

Breaking barriers

At the core of the Bivouac brand is a powerhouse team of women; Founder and Creative Director (and self-described “Adventure Guide”) Lara Worm, Brand Manager Jamie Southerland, Operations Manager Abby Colombo, Sales & Account Manager Brooke Heller, and others including in the kitchen and cider production team. One of San Diego’s few women-owned and operated craft beverage companies, the urban cidery breaks barriers and defies stereotypes while championing inclusivity and empowerment.

Here are a few of the month’s event highlights:

“A Woman’s Place” Cider Pairing Dinner
Thursday, March 31st
7-9PM
Bivouac Ciderworks North Park Taproom: 3986 30th St.

Join Bivouac Ciderworks for a special all women-crafted pairing dinner. The four-course menu, created by Bivouac’s own Chef Sarah Carithers and Founder Lara Worm, will feature Mexican-influenced dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. Each course will be paired with a complementary cider, including past fan-favorite “Halyard” (mango habanero) and fresh agua fresca cider. Plus, a new Mexican Hot Chocolate cider, infused with ethically sourced and fair trade coffee from woman-owned Kakawa Coffee in Point Loma.

Special Women’s History Month Release: Bivouac Ciderworks X Second Chance Beer Co.

The dinner will also mark the limited-time release of a special collaboration with woman co-owned Second Chance Beer Co; a dark, Mexican-inspired beer cider hybrid or “graf” called “Two Lawyers Walk into a Beer” (co-founder and CEO Virginia Morrison is also an attorney, like Worm). The graf was made with the brewery’s malt, hops, and lager yeast and Bivouac’s signature apple juice base and yeast. It will be available on draft at both the Second Chance and Bivouac’s North Park taproom locations. A portion of the dinner’s proceeds will benefit Women Give San Diego, a local non-profit that funds programs that help women and girls of San Diego achieve economic self-sufficiency.

See you there, San Diego!
