Field To Vase Dinner Series Coming To The Flower Fields In Carlsbad
Certified American Grown has announced the kick-off event for its American Grown Field to Vase Dinner Tour will be hosted at the 50-acre Ranunculus flower farm, The Flower Fields in Carlsbad!
Renowned event designer to the stars, the innovative and imaginative Shawna Yamamoto of Shawna Yamamoto Event Design, will be the artistic force behind this year’s vision and ambiance. Yamamoto has spent a decade creating events in the U.S. and internationally that wow attendees. She loves to mix fresh flowers and greens with custom props she and her team build to bring events to life.
In its eighth season, the award-winning farm to table style dinner tour invites guests nationwide to dine among the exquisite fields of America’s most stunning flower and foliage farms. Diners at the Flower Fields will experience innovative tablescapes featuring flowers and foliage homegrown by the multi-generational farming family, Mellano & Company.
A unique experience!
Guests, seated at long community tables situated amongst rainbow waves of stunning ranunculus flowers will enjoy a multi-course artisan meal paired with wine from the local Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association and share lively conversation in the company of other flower aficionados about preserving American Grown flowers, foliage, farmland and floriculture heritage.
“We’re excited to host our first event of the year at the legendary Flower Fields with the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean,” says Camron King, CEO for Certified American Grown. “This series is about learning about the value of buying and supporting local U.S. flower farmers. With the current supply chain, labor shortage and climate issues impacting flower farmers nationwide, we couldn’t think of a better time to celebrate our farmers who, despite the setbacks, are yielding flowers for all our celebrations and events.”
Explore The Flower Fields
The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego, covers 50 acres of San Diego county hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The farm is the home of the Tecolote Giant Ranunculus, also known as the Persian buttercup or Ranunculus asiaticus. Incredibly colorful and beautiful, the ranunculus flower is native to Asia Minor and is a member of the Buttercup family.
“Our family is a multi-generational family that immigrated from Italy in 1921 when we started our work in the floral industry,” said Mike Mellano. “Fast forward to now, we are thrilled to be celebrating and highlighting farms like ourselves to the public through these dinners. It truly is the highlight of my year and a very special evening.”
Additional accompaniments to the dinner include an hour-long farm tour by Mike A. Mellano of Mellano & Company for those guests (limited to 25) that want to delve deeper into the science of farming.
