The Cottage Restaurant Marks 30 Years By Giving Back To Its Community
Serving locals and visitors alike since 1992, The Cottage restaurant has become a fixture of La Jolla Village by virtue of tradition, charm, and community. The eatery, which has been under ownership of former employee and native San Diegan, Jason Peaslee, since 2018, has solidified its legacy over the years and now, approaching its 30th anniversary,
The Cottage is gearing up for a milestone celebration on Tuesday, December 6th, which will see a throwback menu and rollback pricing from 1992, in addition to a custom surfboard giveaway with two of the biggest names in the surfing industry: legendary shaper Rusty Preisendorfer and big wave pro-surfer JoJo Roper.
Jason, who grew up surfing around La Jolla, has pledged proceeds from the twofold initiative to 501(c)3 Windansea Surf Club’s annual “Day at The Beach,” a charitable cause providing children with disabilities and children of homeless families with unforgettable watersport experiences.
Dine like it’s 1992
For one day only, on Tuesday, December 6th, The Cottage will reinstate the original menu that debuted alongside the eatery in 1992—rollback pricing and all! The nostalgic menu will see the return of defunct dishes like the Mashed Potato Omelet and California Benedict, alongside some of The Cottage’s greatest hits and present-day favorites, including the Brioche French Toast, Eggs La Jolla, and Joe’s Special scrambled-eggs-and-chicken-sausage combo.
Guests will enjoy an inflation-reprieve during the event, with all entrées ringing-in under $7.50. The throwback menu will be offered at both The Cottage locations in La Jolla and Encinitas, with a substantial portion of proceeds from dine-in sales to benefit the non-profit. The first 30 parties at each location will also take home limited-edition anniversary mugs, alongside bags of The Cottage restaurant’s famous granola and their house-roasted coffee blends.

Honoring The Cottage’s roots within La Jolla’s prolific surf community, the restaurant has tapped a team of San Diego legends to create a once-in-a-lifetime surfboard collaboration.
From now through December 22nd, fans from around the U.S. can enter the donation-based online raffle, with 100% of proceeds to directly benefit the non-profit partner. The drawing will grant one lucky winner a one-on-one consultation and custom-made board by none other than Rusty Preisendorfer, complete with a nineties-inspired airbrush by renowned artist Seth Bishop and glassing courtesy of WSL pro-surfer Jojo Roper & Joe Roper’s Surfboard Repair Shop.
