Cucina Carnevale Started Weekly Residency At Vino Carta Solana Beach

Cucina Carnevale, a pop-up pizzeria founded by the husband-and-wife team of Mikey and Sara Carnevale, started a weekly residency at Vino Carta’s Solana Beach location on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Carnevales got their business off the ground last December after receiving a high-end pizza oven from a friend from their wedding registry. The two were married in Tuscany on June 18, and after traveling throughout Italy and Europe for four months, returned home in September to the gift and eventually their new-found business.

Chef Mikey, who has Italian lineage on his dad’s side of the family, has expanded to multiple ovens and will serve three different 10-inch Neapolitan pies: pepperoni, margherita, and a special that will rotate each week. All ingredients come from within California. The pizzas are always made by hand, including the dough, which goes through a two-day fermentation process to get the airy crust that customers have been raving about.

The Vino Carta residency starts after Cucina Carnevale’s periodic pop-ups at the Solana Beach and Linda Vista Farmer’s Markets, as well as Culture Brewing Company in Solana Beach. Vino Carta, a sip-and-shop wine bar and store, sells only natural wines from small producers that use organically-grown grapes.
