Sails & Ales Returns With Epic Marina-Front Beer Bash
San Diego Beer Week isn’t just happening in one place this weekend. While the Capital of Craft Beer Festival kicks things off Saturday afternoon, Sails & Ales Beer Fest takes over the marina-front setting at Kona Kai San Diego in Point Loma for its fifth year.
If you’re trying to decide between the two, here’s what makes this one worth considering – stunning water views, a solid lineup of 40 local breweries and wineries, and food that’s several steps above typical festival fare.

Breweries Worth Your Time
The beer list includes heavy hitters like Stone Brewing, Mike Hess, and Eppig Brewing, along with other local favorites that showcase why San Diego earned its craft beer reputation.
With 40 options between breweries and wineries, there’s enough variety to keep your palate interested from 1 PM through 5 PM. A DJ keeps the energy up throughout the afternoon, and honestly, sipping craft beer with the marina as your backdrop isn’t a bad way to spend a Saturday.
Food That Actually Delivers
This is where Sails & Ales differentiates itself. Kona Kai’s culinary team put together a menu that includes Kobe Beef Hot Dogs, Veggie Burgers, Bayside Lobster Rolls, and Fresh Ceviche.
There’s also an exclusive Kona Kai Ice Cream Cart for when you need something sweet between tastings. It’s the kind of food lineup that makes you glad you came hungry.

Supporting Local Waters
A portion of the proceeds benefits the Surfrider Foundation San Diego, which works to protect the coastline we all enjoy. It’s nice when a day of drinking good beer also supports keeping our beaches and ocean healthy.
At $65 per person for four hours of tastings, quality food, and that location, it’s priced right for what you’re getting. Just remember it’s 21+ only.
