Time Warp Your Way to The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 50th Anniversary

Some movies you watch. Others you experience. The Rocky Horror Picture Show has always been the latter, and this 50th anniversary tour is bringing that experience to the Balboa Theatre with a guest who was actually there when it all started – Nell Campbell, the original Columbia.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

What Makes This Different

If you’ve never done Rocky Horror with a live shadow cast and full audience participation, you’re missing out on one of the most interactive theater experiences out there.

The Happy to be Here Club will be performing alongside the film, acting out every scene in real time while the movie plays. It’s chaotic, it’s fun, and it’s exactly what this cult classic deserves.

Every ticket comes with a prop bag for audience participation – though fair warning, the Balboa has rules against outside food and anything that could be considered a weapon, so no toast, rice, or water guns.

But you’ll have everything you need to fully participate in the callbacks and interactive moments that make Rocky Horror what it is.

Meet the Original Columbia

Nell Campbell isn’t just making an appearance – she’s hosting the whole thing. For fans of the film, getting to see someone who was part of the original cast is rare. The VIP Meet & Greet package gets you the best seats in the house, a special laminate, a photo op with Nell using your own camera, and an autograph.

You can bring something personal for her to sign or choose from her collection of photos. At $175, it’s definitely a splurge, but for die-hard fans, it’s the kind of experience you don’t get every day.

Costumes Expected

This is Rocky Horror. Showing up in costume isn’t just encouraged – it’s practically required. There’s a costume contest, so if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to break out that Frankenfurter corset or Magenta outfit, this is it.

The whole night leans into the campy, participatory spirit that’s kept this movie relevant for five decades. It’s loud, it’s weird, and it’s unapologetically itself.

Don’t Dream It, Be It

Whether you’re a longtime Rocky Horror devotee or someone who’s curious about what all the fuss is about, this anniversary tour offers a solid way to experience the phenomenon.

The Balboa Theatre provides a beautiful backdrop for the madness, and having Nell Campbell there adds a layer of authenticity you won’t find at your average screening.

See You There!

Dust off your fishnets, practice your Time Warp, and get ready for a night that celebrates everything gloriously strange about Rocky Horror.
