Art, Murals, and Good Vibes – La Jolla’s Growing Together Series is Back
The La Jolla Historical Society (LJHS) is keeping the momentum going with the second installment of its Growing Together series. This is a free, six-event community program bringing families together through art, history, and culture across La Jolla.
After a strong debut in March, the next event teams up with the Murals of La Jolla program for a fun-filled Sunday afternoon. It’s equal parts creative and community-driven.

A Self-Guided Mural Tour Through La Jolla’s Outdoor Gallery
The heart of the event is a self-guided mini-murals tour spotlighting three to four of La Jolla’s public murals. First, scan a QR code to download the 30-minute tour. Then, follow the route – scavenger hunt in hand – as you explore the neighborhood’s growing collection of outdoor art.
Each mural stop comes with its own drawing activity and an interactive passport stamp so kids can track their progress along the way. Several stops will also feature a musical component, adding another layer of life to the experience.
Hands-On Activities, a Collaborative Mural, and Live Music
Back at the LJHS campus, shaded tables at each stop highlight the featured murals with mini activities. You’ll also find a full neighborhood mural map for anyone who wants to keep exploring after the event wraps.
San Diego-based multidisciplinary artist Kaori Fukuyama is a Space Maker artist working across site-specific installation, sculpture, and painting. She will be leading an artist-guided workshop. A double-sided large canvas will be on hand for everyone to contribute to a collaborative mural. This will create a piece of community artwork that commemorates the day.
Live music comes courtesy of Songs4Smiles, a student-run nonprofit made up of students from the San Diego Youth Symphony, performing throughout the afternoon. Also, you can round it all out with lawn games like hula hoops, bubbles, chalk, and building blocks – plus tacos available for purchase – and you’ve got a solid Sunday plan.
