See Rodrigo y Gabriela Bring OurHome to Humphreys Concerts By the Bay
Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero do not tour with a band. Two acoustic guitars, a stage, and a crowd is the entire setup, and the Grammy-winning duo has spent more than two decades turning that into one of the most physical live shows going.
Their OurHome tour brings them to Humphreys Concerts By the Bay, and the room suits them.

Tokyo, Stardust, and the Making of OurHome
OurHome was self-produced in Tokyo, and the duo frames it as a love letter to Japan and a record about finding home inside yourself. The world they built around it runs toward rogue monsters, celestial birds, stardust, and the search for inner peace.
Musically it is a return to acoustic texture. Classical, rock, metal, and cinematic atmosphere all move through it, which is a lot to hold together on two instruments and no overdubs to hide behind.
Marty Friedman and Hiromi Sit In
The record widens the duo’s world by bringing in guitarist Marty Friedman and pianist Hiromi. Both have long been based in Japan, which tracks for an album made there.
Those collaborations stay in service of the two guitars rather than crowding them. The arrangements still come back to what Rodrigo and Gabriela can play with six strings each.
Lightning Leads and Rhythms You Feel in the Floor
Live, the division of labor is easy to follow. Rodrigo takes the lead lines at speed. Gabriela turns the body of her guitar into a drum and holds the entire thing down underneath him.
The result moves between stillness and full intensity with no drummer anywhere in sight. Quiet passages land as genuinely quiet, which makes the loud stretches hit harder when they arrive.
