Step Into a Storybook Dinner at Le Petit Chef in the Gaslamp Quarter
The table is the screen. That is the whole idea behind Le Petit Chef, and the Gaslamp room gets a new story to tell.
The Magical Cooking Book opens that night at Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, taking over from Le Petit Chef & Friends, which played its last show on October 25.

A Wish Fairy, a Spell, and the World’s Smallest Chef
The premise: the world’s smallest chef cracks open a magical cooking book, a Wish Fairy turns up, and a spell starts stirring things that were supposed to stay still.
It plays out on your tabletop through 3D projection mapping, your plate doubling as the screen. Each course turns a page, and the whole thing runs about two hours. The animation is built around the classic menu, so that is the version to order if you want the story and the plate to line up.
Four Courses, From Magical Soup to Candyland
Dinner opens with an Enchanted Elixir, then Magical Soup: creamy potato leek with cheddar cheese balls, crispy bacon, and chive oil. AI Kitchenrobot follows with citrus-poached branzino, squash velouté, baby carrots, sugar snap peas, and a citrus and fennel salad.
Le Grand Chef is the centerpiece, beef tenderloin en croûte with spinach, mushroom emulsion, red wine jus, chervil, and fresh truffle. Dessert is Candyland: chocolate crémeux cake, raspberry coulis, chocolate crumble, and raspberry sorbet.

Master Wizard, Herbalist, or Little Wizard’s
The classic Master Wizard menu runs $169. The vegetarian Herbalist menu is $139 and swaps in baked ratatouille with mozzarella and basil pesto, plus a portobello and spinach roll in puff pastry with Boursin.
Little Wizard’s, built for kids 6 to 12, is $89 and goes three-cheese spaghetti and a mini beef burger. Add 18% service charge and 7.75% tax to all three.
Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and fish-free versions are possible with notice when you book, and the dress code is resort casual. You will find the room at a walking distance from Petco Park and the Convention Center.
See you there!
This is the kind of dinner you keep describing to people afterward. Bring someone who likes surprises, order the branzino, and let the last page land on dessert.
