ArtPower At UC San Diego Announces Its 2019–20 Season

ArtPower at UC San Diego’s 2019–20 season features over 30 performances by internationally renowned artists and ensembles. This season, ArtPower celebrates the inclusion of a diversity in ideas, styles, and cultures and the globally-engaged series brings artists into direct conversation with the San Diego community.

The Global Music Series

This year, the Global Music series focuses on artists modernizing Asian music, updating conventions with contemporary performance. Presenting in collaboration with La Jolla Playhouse, the series opens with Dengue Fever, recognized for their blend of 1960s Cambodian pop and psychedelic rock. In the spring, ArtPower celebrates the Hindu holiday of Holi with “the best party band in years” (NPR), Red Baraat Festival of Colors is known for merging hard driving North Indian bhangra with elements of hip-hop, jazz, and raw punk energy.
