Kick Off Tacos Of The Month This August At City Tacos In All Its Three Branches

San Diego’s favorite taqueria, City Tacos, is kicking off August with the Flor de Calabaza Taco – a special menu item that will be available all month long! The staple ingredient, squash blossom, has been used in Mexican cuisine for many years and is considered a delicacy for its very particular flavor.

City Tacos’ Flor de Calabaza taco is made up of golden fried squash blossom over a bed of melted asadero cheese, baby portabella mushrooms and poblano peppers topped with tomato, cilantro, micro greens and serrano aioli. The textures and flavors all meld
together perfectly to create this one-of-a-kind taco, served on a freshly made corn tortilla.

The inspiration from this taco comes from Native Mexican Indian cuisine street side vendors, who’ve made delicious quesadillas with the blossom in sautéed form. The blossom has a great earthy quality, somewhat like sautéed squash with a delicate almost a truffle-like finish.

Stop by any of the City Tacos locations – North Park, La Mesa, Imperial Beach – to try this specialty taco before the end of August!

See you there!
