The Big List Of Not Sold-Out, Not Invitation-Only Comic-Con Parties

So by now you know, there are about to be a bunch of superheroes and other various characters running around San Diego this weekend. By now you may also know that the legendary convention bringing them all in – Comic-Con 2017 – is sold out.

However, we at There San Diego find every reason to attend a great and big out-of-this-world party, and apparently so does the rest of our fine city (we knew we lived in the best place in the world)!

Here, we’ve rounded up some of the best chances for you to party like you were an immortal, but with all the added mortal benefits. Pick one, pick a few. You won’t even remember there was a formal convention going on!

Wednesday, July 19th

The San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog’s 2 Blog 2 Furious — McFadden’s San Diego, 7 p.m.

A great alternative to preview night, join Comic-Con’s most official unofficial blog at McFadden’s. Best part is, entry is free!

Hop-Con 5.0  Stone Brewery’s Liberty Station location, 7 p.m.

Enjoy 15 x 3oz beer samples, an opportunity to sample the full five-year vertical, commemorative Hop-Con 5.0 glass, gourmet food stations with unlimited tastings, unlimited plays at Mike’s #HopCade, photo booth, and some churros for dessert. Sounds like a done deal to us.

IDW:PDX And Black Crown Rock ‘N’ Roll Afterparty — Jolt’n Joe’s, 9:30 p.m.

Jam out with the comic clairvoyants of IDW Publishing and Black Crown. And when we say “jam out with,” we mean it. The handful of bands playing will be comprised of IDW Publishing staff. Pretty awesome!

Thursday, July 20th

Adult Swim on the Green — Convention Way & 5th Ave Pier, 1 p.m.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVtJAxqAdwG/?tagged=adultswimonthegreen

Partake in games, food trucks, trivia and sneak peaks of episodes to come on the Adult Swim network.

Fandango Kickoff Party, featuring a performance by Elle King — Omnia rooftop, 8 p.m.

Appropriately dubbed “After Con,” and complete with hashtag #ConAF, it’s a party at the Omnia. It doesn’t get bigger than this!

“Sharknado 5: Global Swarming” Party  Sycuan Casino Sports Bar, 7 p.m.

While we did our best to find you parties that are open to the public with tickets still available, this one might be a bit of an in-betweener. While it is invitation-only (makes sense considering Sharknado stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziering will be there), you can win tickets to this one through July 19th. Just follow the instructions, here.

Rave of Thrones, featuring a DJ set by “Game of Thrones” actor Kristian Nairn (Hodor) — Omnia nightclub, 9 p.m.

Yeah, Omnia. You’re pretty much crushing the Comic-Con party scene this year. Bringing in “Hodor” from Game of Thrones as guest DJ? You have our hearts…

Syfy Party  New Children’s Museum, 9 p.m.

Friday, July 21st

Adult Swim on the Green — Convention Way & 5th Ave Pier, 1 p.m.

Dragon Ball Super fan bash  McFadden’s Restaurant, 7 p.m.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BTokStMAPN7/?taken-by=dragonballsuper_

Love you some Dragon Ball Super? How about a free party with RuthAnn Thompson (voice of Bulma) in attendance? Throw some JENGA trivia, Pin the Tail on Goku, dollar raffles, vendors, and DJ Nick at Nite, and you’ve got yourself a good one! Just be sure to register attendance in advance.

Japanese Friendship Garden’s Pop Culture Party: Yokai Omatsuri  Inamori Pavilion, 7:30 p.m.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVSf2TiBlYj/?taken-by=japanesefriendshipgarden

Hang out at one of the most beautiful settings of Comic-Con and enjoy food and activity booths, a live DJ and performances, and a super natural costume contest. This might be the most enchanted party around this weekend – and we’ve got discounted tickets.

Party And Drink Like A Pirate At PirateCon — Maritime Museum of San Diego, 8 p.m.

Das Bunker Galactic Dance Party  Spin Nightclub, 9 p.m.

Basscon Presents Darren Styles  Bassmnt, 9 p.m.

Party with Sam Jones aka Flash Gordon — The Waterfront Grill & Bar, 9 p.m.

Jones will be guest bartending and serving up Flash Gordon inspired drink specials as DJ Raji Rabbit spins. Entrance is free!

SuicideGirls: Blackheart Burlesque Tour The Music Box, 9:30pm

A geek-friendly, cosplay striptease and burlesque performance? Yes, please!

Saturday, July 22nd

Adult Swim on the Green — Convention Way & 5th Ave Pier, 1 p.m.

Comic Con Pub Crawl — begins at The Commons, 5 p.m.

Who says you can’t have them all? Join this pub crawl to hit up many stops in the Gaslamp with fellow superheroes and other true believers. We’ve even got discounted tix for you, here. You’re welcome.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fandom Party— Side Bar, 6 p.m.

Avant Garde Costume Gala 2017 — Park6, 6:30 p.m.

Marked Men 7: Annual Pirate and Fantasy Party — Maritime Museum, 8 p.m.

Put some Game of Thrones in a pot with some Pirates of the Caribbean, and you’ve got yourself one sweet party. Add costumes, sword fight stunt shows, fire dancing, and live music from cosplay band Songhammer, and you’re at a whole new level.

The Impractical Jokers Block Party — Petco Park, 8 p.m.

Official Wonder Woman Cosplay Party With Free Champagne For Women — Side Bar, 9 p.m.

Syfy Party  New Children’s Museum, 9 p.m.

Sunday, July 23rd

Super Hero Pool Party — The Lafayette Hotel, 12 p.m.

You may have the best costume around town, but is it waterproof? Step up your costume game, enjoy DJ set by TAJ, and get into the Lafayette’s pool for an ultimate Comic-Con closing day under the sun.

Adult Swim on the Green — Convention Way & 5th Ave Pier, 1 p.m.
