Annual Coronado Flower Show Returns For Its 101st Year

The largest tented flower show in the U.S. and Coronado’s longest running tradition, is coming back to Coronado! The 101st annual Coronado Flower Show is set to take place, April 15-16.

Organized by the Coronado Floral Association (CFA), the event includes an array of events leading up to and throughout the two-day festival. This year’s event theme is Hollywood in Bloom.

A Coronado spring tradition

“The Coronado Flower Show started out as a way to bring our community together through the shared love and pride of our beautiful, vibrant city,” shares Sara Stillman, CFA President. “Every spring, we unite in support of this cherished tradition, which brings together neighbors, and flower fans, alike.”

As part of a prequel to the show, the annual event kicked off with its local Homefront Judging Competition, March 31 through April 2, where Coronado residents prepped and tweaked their gardens, home fronts, and store fronts in hopes of winning the elusive blue ribbons.

What to expect at the 101st annual Coronado Flower Show

New this year, as a joint effort with the Emerald Keepers, there will be a new green ribbon to recognize earth-friendly home fronts as well.

More than 100 volunteer judges will examine and award competitive (blue, red, yellow, and green) ribbons to Coronado home fronts, apartment buildings, condominium complexes, churches, businesses, and school gardens.

The main event, The Coronado Flower Show, is divided into five divisions – Horticulture, Design, Special Exhibits, Youth and Botanical Arts. The show has been a spring tradition since 1922 and is one of the largest tented flower show in the U.S.

Located at Spreckels Park, this two-day event includes landscape displays, a variety of floral competitions, educational lectures and demonstrations, live bandstand entertainment, food, a beer & wine garden with locally crafted beers, and shopping.

See you there!

The Coronado Flower Show is organized in partnership with the City of Coronado. Over 250 CFA volunteers work to make the Flower Show weekend a success.
