Rock On, Balboa Park: Spreckels Organ Goes Psychedelic

Hold onto your tie-dye shirts, San Diego! The Spreckels Organ Society is about to blow our minds with their Annual Labor Day Classic Rock Concert. We’re talking about the coolest mash-up in town—the largest outdoor musical instrument in the world belting out tunes from The Doors and Pink Floyd.

This epic show is the grand finale of their 36th annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, and they’re pulling out all the stops (organ pun totally intended).

Annual Labor Day Classic Rock Concert

A Multi-Sensory Experience

As the sun sets over Balboa Park, the front of the Pavilion will come alive with mind-bending projections. It’s like a musical time machine back to the ’60s but with cutting-edge technology.

Raúl Prieto Ramirez, the mastermind behind this epic event (and San Diego’s very own Civic Organist), is brimming with excitement. “There’s something so special about the Spreckels Organ—and to experience it with a rock band is truly next level!” he tells us. We couldn’t agree more, Raúl!

Meet the Band

Let’s give it up for the 7-member Spreckels Organ Pavilion Rock Band:

  • Ben Zinn shredding on guitar
  • Chloe Lou and William Flemming bringing the vocal magic
  • Harley Magsino laying down the bass lines
  • Lauren Leigh doing double duty on vocals and guitar
  • Richard “T-Bone” Larson keeping the beat on drums
  • And of course, Raúl Prieto Ramirez himself on the massive organ

See you there!

The annual Labor Day Classic Rock Concert is happening on Monday, September 2, at 7:30 PM. And the best part? It’s absolutely free! You can leave your wallet at home (but maybe bring it anyway to show some love with a donation).

Can’t make it? No worries. The Spreckels Organ Pavilion hosts free concerts every Sunday at 2 PM. It’s their way of keeping the music flowing, just like John and Adolph Spreckels intended when they gifted this musical marvel to our city back in 1915.

So, gather your crew, pack a picnic, and head down to 2125 Pan American Road in beautiful Balboa Park. This is your chance to see the world’s largest outdoor musical instrument rock out under the stars.

See you there, San Diego!
